Marigot Rose needs a new rudder and more repairs to the aft transom
Sluggish angles of turn at sea trial and unpleasant vibrations heard and felt while underway during sea trial.
At first was put down to potentially being due to neglected bottom scrubbing of the hull that required a pressure wash during the haul and launch at the boat yard. After lifting from the water, there was clean and clear evidence of what might have been upsetting her ride on water. |
Her rudder pole is bent so badly that the rudder cannot be turned through free range of motion.
The rudder blade chafes on the underside of the hull and prevents full left to right movement from helm steering.

If you're inclined to consider this boat as purchasable after reviewing the other points that I'll disclose on this site - try it for yourself in the marina slip before taking it for sea trial and full survey. Turn the helm steering and see just how far short it stops either side of the rusty rudder arm stoppers.
Don't turn too hard though, because if you swing it hard enough, it might just get stuck enough to keep you going in circles for the rest of your sea trial. Pretty sure that's not what the rudder hydraulics were designed for; freeing a jammed rudder fin from its own hull |
